The American version of Argentine Tango this dance is done to music that has very defined points. This dance is for those of all physically abilities and ages.

BALBOA (Pure Bal & Balswing)

Balboa is a very close dance done to fast Early Jazz music. Imagine being close to your partner as in slow dancing however your feet are moving fast. Originally
Balboa was done in this position without partners ever braking away from one another. This is now called Pure Bal. However, now there are lots of turns and other
brake-aways in Balboa, we call this form Balswing. Balswing is what we do in our class series. Though fast, Balboa can be done by all ages.

A lively Latin dance done to medium speed music, Cha Cha is suitable for those of all physically abilities and ages. Though you can make this dance
more physically demanding of you like.
Recommendation:
At a beginner level, this dance is at a medium level of difficulty. It would help to have a few months of dancing at social
dances under your belt before you take this course.

CHARLESTON 20's & 30's

Charleston is a very wild dance. There is lots of kicking while moving at moderate to faster tempos. Not for the faint of heart, however you can tone it down to
make it more bareable if you are not up for the physical challenge. Charleston started out as a sole dance and there will be sole moves taught in this class. The
20's sole moves are less demanding. In the later 20's & 30's Charleston was done with a partner and became more wild. This will also be part of the class.

Collegiate Shag though a small dance will get your heart pumping. There is lots of small fast footwork to moderate and faster tempos.

These classes are an overview of the 10 more popular dances done at our Ballroom Dances. We go through these 10 dance style in 2/5 class Series. All of these
styles can be enjoyed by those of all physical abilities and ages. This is a great way to get comfortable coming out to our Ballroom Dances. These Series only spend
one class on each style of dance. Our other series spend 5 to 6 weeks on just 1 style each.
Styles included in Non-Latin: Waltz, Foxtrot, Night Club 2 Step, East Coast Swing, & American Tango.
Styles included in Latin: Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba & Merengie.
Recommendation:
This is the series you want to take if you have never danced before. We offer this series so that you may feel comfortable social dancing.

Before the 1950's Jitterbug was a general term refering to anyone who danced to Big Band music. However, with the advent of Early Rock-N-Roll Jitterbug became
the name of their dance. Jitterbug is often confused with East Coast Swing from which it came. In short, they share the same basic footwork and moves but ECS
is a ballroom dancer's way to swing and Jitterbug is a wild teen's way of swing dancing. This dance can be done by people of all ages!
Recommendation:
This dance style is ideal for those who have no dance experience and want to get into swing. This is the place to start!!!

Starting with a dancer named Dean Collins in the 1930's Hollywood or Smooth Style Lindy Hop was really Dean's way of dancing Lindy Hop which started in the Savoy
Ballroom of Harlem New York. Dean took Lindy Hop to the movies and Hollywood CA. His style of Lindy Hop is the more tame version and can be enjoyed by all ages.
West Coast Swing was born out of Dean's Smooth style of Lindy Hop.

Starting in New York in the late 1920's Savoy Lindy Hop was the dance craze of the Savoy Ballroom. This form of Lindy Hop was a little more wild and could be
done at much faster tempos. This dance is very physically demanding and high energy!

At a beginner level, this dance is at a high range of difficulty. It would help to have Lindy Hop (Hollywood Style) under your
belt before you take this course.

A smooth dance done to slow music, Night Club 2 Step is suitable for those of all physically abilities and ages. This would be a great dance to consider
learning for your wedding. It is a great dance for lovers.

Waltz is a smooth dance done to beautiful slower music. It is the dance most people choose to do at their weddings. This styles is ideal for those of all physical

West Coast Swing is a dance with attitude. Don't let the name fool you, west coast swing is more of the Ballroom variety than the Swing. This dance can be enjoyed
by all, however at its higher levels it has lots of spins and physically demanding manovers.
