The Shim Sham Shimmy is a 1930’s vintage jazz dance routine. It is danced as we would recognize a “line dance” today. There is no partnering during this dance routine. When the Shim Sham first hit the dance floors it was not a routine. It was more like a square dance in that there was a caller. The caller would yell out a jazz step and the dancers would do it. These days the Shim Sham is usually danced to the song, “Taint What You Do” by Jimmy Lunsford. This specialty class series lasts 2 weeks and runs about an hour each week. This series is recommended for anyone who would like to learn some vintage jazz steps. No prior swing dance experience required.
NOTE: This was scheduled to be a two week class. Due to snow, now it is going to run two hours on Monday December 9th starting at 7pm. It will not run into December 16th as stated above!
